Vendors, Consultant and Oracle Partners:
In order to make it easier for you to participate in Heartland OAUG events, vendors can join us for a single event for $350. This sponsorship provides access to the user group meeting, a space to set up your display materials, a sponsorship slide and special mention (we will introduce your team) during the opening session and one session during the vendor breakouts on the day of the user group meeting. It also provides the best positive exposure to the user group community. Your sponsorship allows us to operate the user group without charging dues, thus getting better attendance. This new course in Computational Intelligence , MNGT 994 ( Seminar in Selected Topics – CI) is designed for those individuals, companies and organizations that see the exploding possibilities of using the (BIG) Data Bases and new Analytic Methods to see deeper into the current digital reality.
The course builds on what the Military, Government and Industry are doing in the intersection of the new and emerging technologies in computing, communications and intelligence and the worlds of defense, research and business.
One of the commercial areas that are covered in CI is “Big Data”. We are all aware that Big Data is growing and is everywhere you look. One reason, perhaps a bit theoretical (that we will look into), is that Social Networking sites like Facebook and Twitter can be considered soft sensors and produce prodigious amounts of data. Since the cost of sensors is coming down so fast they are being placed everywhere.
The role of Intelligence has undergone fundamental change since the end of the cold war. Since the Cold War the environment has also changed radically. One of the most important change that has impacted Intelligence gathering and analysis is the deep merger of computing and communications (cell phones and I-pads ™) are the receptors and generators of these large data bases.
Now that large amounts of data are readily available, the challenge becomes how and what tools to use to extract Information and Knowledge from this Data and turn this into Intelligence. In addition the selection and merging of various forms of intelligence into a summary intelligence report, including important visualization aspects) requires skills not generally exercised by the general management population previously.
This course should be of value to Industry, Government and Educational leaders who see the need to develop an understanding of the challenge and the tools available to gather, report and present actionable intelligence in an understandable fashion expressing the risks involved in the conclusions.
The course is held during the evenings of the first five weeks of summer session. It begins on June 10th and goes to July 12 with July 4th as a holiday. The class will be held each week on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 5:00PM to 8:50PM
